I tend to use it in my writing blog comments or Facebook posts when I intend to leave some thing funny to the other person's imagination. However, I then go back and take them out because I think they are more confusing.

I like them as a reader. It is one of the limitations of written word. Transmitting the feeling of the passage is difficult on paper on occasion. In person, seeing your actions or listening while we talked, the pause would say much. Aposiopesis helps paint the picture.
