Alan Portman

You have been in Florida too long. You should have known bridges freeze first. :)

Glad it worked out.

Hank Phillippi Ryan

Oh, TERRIBLE! SO glad you are safe..what an ordeal! xoxoo

Elaine Viets

We passengers knew it, Alan, but the driver didn't. That's the scary part.

Elaine Viets

I'm glad to be home, too, Hank. Winter travel is an ordeal for everyone, no matter how you go.

Cathy M

Who knew you'd need hobnail boots to get to the terminal? I must say it was very resourceful of you to enlist the aid of the van driver as a NYC Sherpa.

I'm glad you made it safely home.

Elaine Viets

Next time I'm packing golf spikes for a winter trip, Cathy. I hope poor Edward, the driver, doesn't have bruises on his shoulder from me.

Storyteller Mary

You are dauntless! For future reference, moms always have snacks . . . just ask! Hugs!

Elaine Viets

Determined to get back to the good weather, Mary, is more like it. Not sure mom would give me a juice box and Cheerios after I'd been glaring at her noisy little darling, but it's good to know.

Cath Hoffner

After a great weekend an endurance trek. Glad you're safe back home. Great idea on getting up the hill and getting an earlier flight!

KarenM

Okay, I avoid NYC at any cost, but that is just my past experience talking.

Why not hold conference calls during winter???

Elaine Viets

The early flight was sheer luck, Cath.

Elaine Viets

The once a year in-person meeting is to promote bonding, Karen. the new board takes over in January, with the start of the new year. All the other meetings are sconference call, but now we've had some excellent brain-storming sessions and we can put a face to the names.

Karen in Ohio

Yuck, yuck, double yuck. SO glad to know you got to the airport safely. Thank goodness you left so early!

I just saw your name on the board of directors this morning, before I checked my blog reader. Congratulations, to you, and to MWA for having you on the board.

Elaine Viets

I'm really excited about serving on this board, Karen. It's a dynamic group -- Sara Paretsky is amazing and Donna is a good leader. Hope we can help MWA.

Chelsea

AWESOME!! I love it! Life happens and many times, our plans don't go the way we have planned. Your story shows that, no matter what, one can still do well (and even have fun by the telling of the story) no matter what the circumstances. I am glad you made it safely. :)

Elaine Viets

It's fun to talk about, Chelsea, and I really liked the two drivers. It's a shame they bothj lost a day's pay because of that ice.

Deb Marshall

If we didn't have times like these, we wouldn't have as many great stories to tell, would we? Congrats on the board position! Sounds like a good gig. Happy you made it home---without laying the groundwork for a Josie Marcus airline murder.

Charlaine Harris

I'm proud of you, Elaine. You were resourceful. I'd probably still be sitting in the van looking at baby pictures. You will be wonderful on the board. We Femmes have done our time for both SinC and MWA!

Elaine Viets

I'm glad I lived to tell the story, Deb. If I was a cat, I'd be on life No 8.5

Elaine Viets

Thanks, Charlaine. We Femmes have sat through our share of meetings for Sisters in Crime and MWA. Catriona's SinC prez now, and Marica Talley is a retired president -- a.k.a, a "goddess" in SinC speak.
