What a fabulous trip, Dana. The Woman of Willendorf speaks volumes about society's views of beauty. Loved the little glimpses of life away from the tourist brochures.

Now I'm sorry I passed up the Mucha museum in Prague. But I also saw the Kafka statue, and toured the Jewish Quarter with a guide, as well as a good tour of the Prague Castle.

You're so right about the gilded overdecoration. It wears, after awhile.

Thanks, Elaine! I like Smithsonian Journeys, because they get you to all the really good stuff, navigate the best times to see the very popular stuff, and find unexpected little surprises along the way. They pick very good hotels and line up lots of excellent meals. Also, lots of free time for wandering on one's own.

Karen, I would have missed the Mucha museum as well, but I'd asked a friend in art history for recommendations. Seeing the museum really changed what I thought I knew, and I love that!

Dana - Looks like a fabulous trip! It is always so amazing to see in person something one has studied about like the Willendorf figure.
