My sympathies, Marcia. Copyedits from editors ALWAYS arrive at the wrong time -- when I'm leaving for a trip, or there's a death in the family. Good luck with your edits!

Marcia, I'm disappointed you didn't post that picture of yourself waving a hammer.

I feel your pain, Marcia. I always think I'm going to like having work done than I do. The process is painful, as is paying for it; only the outcome is good. Your deck looks wonderful!

Looking good. Your guests are never going to want to leave.

As the daughter of a contractor, if it makes you feel any better, I have never lived in a home that wasn't in the midst of some project or another. This includes my own home that I've lived in for coming up on 20 years.

The inconvenience of the work and usually higher than expected bill will fade into the background, like childbirth does, once you're enjoying your home's new enhancements.

Until something else needs repairing, replacing, or updating that is. ;)
